Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Ortho

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, night shift (18:45 - 07:15)
• Floating to like units may be required based on skill set
• Weekend coverage every other weekend (subject to change)

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year
• Orthopedic Surgery experience
• One completed travel assignment
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Tennessee RN license or multistate license required
• Required certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Key Requirements & Compliance

• Must complete background checks including 7-year history and various federal/state screenings
• Drug screening within 1 year and updated annually
• Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (if working in high-risk areas)
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption (seasonal requirement)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B documentation or immunity proof
• Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation
• Completion of online orientation modules and pass/fail testing prior to start
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams required annually
• Floating policy acknowledgment required (except for some locations)

Additional Information

• Medication system used: Omnicell
• Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, specific background and lighting)
• Online modules (~12 hours) must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
• Pass/fail testing for medication and arrhythmia exams required before orientation
• Annual core competencies and safety training required
• Some specialty certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., TNCC, ENPC, EFM)

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in Orthopedics requiring night shifts with weekend coverage every other week. Candidates must have at least 1 year of specialty experience, prior travel experience, and EPIC system proficiency. Licensure and multiple certifications including ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are mandatory. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, immunizations, and mandatory training modules is required before starting the assignment.
