Registered Nurse (RN) - MedSurg/Telemetry
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: Telemetry - Surgical/Neuro 4th Floor
- Beds: 48 (two units: 4A and 4B)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- Nurse Aide ratio: 1:10-15
- Telemetry monitored remotely; Tele techs on 3rd floor read and post strips
- RNs interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift
- Charge Nurse does not take patient assignments
- Floating may be required to other units (East Campus, possibly PCU if qualified)

- COVID-19
- Respiratory conditions
- Gastrointestinal issues
- Diabetes
- Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)
- Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA)
- General, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Experience / Skills
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips required
- Some experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA preferred
- Cerner electronic health record experience recommended (only one day of orientation)
- RNs are not required to titrate drips
- Common titratable/set rate drip: Diltiazem (set rate)
Equipment Used
- Bipap
- Cpap
- High flow oxygen
- Some breathing treatments
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Schedules made for 4 weeks at a time
- Self-scheduling used but finalized by manager
- Weekend requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Holiday requirement: Work 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and 1 day on major holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day)
- No call or standby requirement
Orientation
- Unit/Department specific orientation: 1 shift on the unit
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs

- Floating to other units may be required.
