Location: Tacoma, Washington

Job Description

A hospital in Washington is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a travel contract in the NICU. The role involves working primarily in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Labor & Delivery (L&D) areas, caring for neonatal patients.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) may be considered
  • Current Washington State Respiratory Therapist license
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • COVID-19 vaccination required

Experience & Skills

  • Experience with delivery room and NICU respiratory care
  • Proficient in Bubble CPAP and neonatal respiratory support
  • Ability to perform rare EKGs and run blood gases
  • Assist with intubations (independent intubation not required)

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Department: NICU Respiratory Therapy
  • Patient population: Neonates
  • Equipment used: Drager ventilators, bubble CPAP, Fisher & Paykel 850 HHFNC
  • Shifts: Nights (1800 - 0630), every other weekend required
  • Standby call may be required with a 30-minute response time if census is low
  • Orientation specific to the department provided
  • Hospital scrubs provided
  • Respiratory Manager available on site; no floating required

Additional Information

  • Workload dependent on census; backup available if workload is low
  • Holiday requirements vary
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) available in-house
