Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Travel/Contract)
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights (start times may change based on permanent staff scheduling)
- Start Dates: May 4 or May 18
- On-Call: As needed
- Weekend Requirement: As needed (no weekend block scheduling, but weekend block may be considered)
- Locals: Not accepted (100-mile radius rule)
- Pending License: Not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Must be included at time of submission
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Over 3 years recent ED experience required for first-time travelers
- Minimum 2 years total travel experience
- Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
- Level I Trauma experience
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Licenses & Certifications
- License: Valid RN license in Tennessee or multistate license compliant with NLC
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- NIH Stroke Certification - Required for all RNs (renewed annually)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Preferred but not required
Special Requirements
- Driver’s license must be included with submission
- Must comply with all background checks and verifications (statewide, county, federal, education verification, sex offender search, adult abuse registry for TN)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit mask test (3M N-95 1860 and 1870+ masks only) within 1 year of start
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or positive titer or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
- Two recent professional references required
- Skills checklist and internal evaluations as applicable
Additional Notes
- No first-time travelers unless they have over 3 years recent ER experience
- Weekend block scheduling generally not accommodated
- Strict compliance with all documentation and credentialing requirements is mandatory
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
- Photo badge required prior to start with strict guidelines (passport-style photo, no hats, no glasses with glare, no filters, etc.)
This position is for a Registered Nurse with Emergency Room specialty, requiring strong trauma and acute care experience in a Level I Trauma Center environment. Candidates must meet all licensing, certification, and health requirements and be prepared for night shifts and potential on-call duties.
