Registered Nurse – Stepdown Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work on a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM / Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM). Shifts may rotate as needed to meet operational demands.
• Must work at least every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
• Demonstrated competency in ECG rhythm recognition

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Comprehensive background check including 7-year FCRA-compliant search, updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months.
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility fingerprinting also required.
• Education verification required for all candidates.
• Nursys license verification within 30 days of start.
• References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).

Orientation and Training

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone).
• Modules include mandatory training videos and tests; skipping videos will lock out the candidate.
• Orientation includes baseline competency exams for medication administration and ECG interpretation (SafeMedicate and ECG tests).
• Candidates with less than 6 months gap from previous assignment at the facility may be exempt from some orientation requirements.

Additional Notes

• Preferred but not required: PCU/Progressive Care experience.
• Documentation and compliance must be maintained and updated timely to remain eligible for assignment extensions.
• Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility policies and testing requirements.

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts, and able to meet comprehensive health and compliance standards.
