Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Float: Required to float across all facilities as needed
- Patient Population: Primarily Medical-Surgical (MS) with telemetry capability
- Unit: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in nursing specialty
- First-time travelers: Accepted
Job Responsibilities
- Care for patients with respiratory conditions, general medical-surgical diagnoses, palliative/end-of-life/hospice care, psychiatric observation, diabetes management (including complicated cases), and surgical patients
- Use of EPIC electronic health record system
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred but not required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge)
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, national criminal search, federal court, sex offender registry, education verification, and international searches if applicable
- Education verification: Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required; foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained outside the U.S.
- Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of employment history for the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
- Facility-specific documents including health history form, floating policy, contractor equipment acknowledgement, dress code review, and job description acknowledgment
- Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam (within 12 months)
- Fit mask test (annual, approved N95 respirators only)
- Adult Tdap vaccine proof required
- Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months or chest X-ray if positive history
- TB questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer proof
- Hepatitis B titer or declination with booster series if non-reactive
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer proof
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, methadone, cocaine, PCP, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, oxycodone, propoxyphene)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
Testing and Competency Exams
- Pass/fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam (required for all RNs except Behavioral Health and Case Managers)
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher)
- EPIC test (2 attempts allowed; 80% or higher to pass)
- Color vision test (required unless non-clinical)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for Cardiac Progressive Care, MS/Tele units, and ER RNs)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be aware of and agree to the zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance deadline is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date
- Candidates must be willing to float across facilities as needed
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome
