Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM / Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours
  • Work setting: Inpatient labor and delivery unit with ability to float to other facilities
  • Variable 12-hour shifts at Mission Bay location

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years labor and delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • Postpartum experience
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • AWHONN Intermediate
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) completion certificate

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Current and valid government photo ID matching professional license (Driver’s License, State ID, or US Passport)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, nationwide and local county checks, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript
  • Primary source license verification (NURSYS for RN) within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved mask types required)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted except medical exemptions)
    • Two negative TB tests (PPD, QuantiFERON, or Tspot) with specific timing requirements
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: titer, series, or declination (declination must be signed within 1 year)
    • Varicella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted)
  • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required as per facility policy
  • Pass/fail Telemetry exam and medication test required on first day of orientation
  • Unit-specific competency exams and core training modules with passing scores (80% or higher) required annually
  • Two supervisory references required, preferably from most recent employment
  • Current and updated resume with last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete facility-specific documents including COVID questionnaires, parking/uniform info, HIPAA and cybersecurity training, and emergency contact information prior to start
  • Religious and medical exemptions for COVID-19 vaccine require detailed documentation and must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to start
  • Background checks and verifications must be current and completed within specified timeframes before start date
  • Candidates may be required to complete fit testing onsite if approved for certain departments
  • Failure to pass required tests after multiple attempts may result in contract cancellation

This position is ideal for experienced labor and delivery nurses with prior travel experience who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are comfortable working variable 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity inpatient setting.
