Registered Respiratory Therapist
Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 06:30 AM – 07:00 PM
Job Description
- Provide evaluation and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
- Assess patients to determine appropriate treatment type and frequency; develop and implement care plans based on diagnosis.
- Monitor patient condition, respiratory equipment, and treatment outcomes.
- Perform advanced respiratory care modalities and administer medications as indicated.
- Educate patients and families about health conditions and available community support resources.
- Respond to emergency resuscitation team codes.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Oklahoma.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Submission of professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment.
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics with a minimum passing score of 80%.
- Completion of respiratory therapy-specific skills checklist within one year, updated annually.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 30 days of assignment start.
- Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days of start; must be updated annually or after breaks in service longer than 90 days.
- Signed assignment agreement and onboarding education attestation required before or at start.
- Submission of a forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations).
Health and Safety Requirements
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
- Two MMR vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or documented history (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Annual influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
- Tuberculosis screening:
- Two-step PPD or negative IGRA within specified timeframes.
- If positive, negative chest X-ray within one year and annual TB questionnaire.
- Fit testing for respiratory protection required annually; preferred before start but can be completed onsite.
- Annual 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.
Additional Notes
- The Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Form is completed onsite and uploaded by the facility.
- Health statement or physical exam confirming good health required prior to first assignment and updated annually.
- Confirmation of assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and for each extension.
This position requires a dedicated respiratory therapist capable of managing complex respiratory care in a hospital setting with compliance to strict credentialing and health standards.
