Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Richmond, Virginia
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Shift: Evening (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM), Monday to Friday
Hours: 40 hours per week (5 days x 8 hours)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work on the North Ground MRI unit.
- Use of McKesson and EPIC systems required.
- Level 1 requirement (likely indicating experience or certification level).
Required Qualifications
- MRI Technologist with at least 1 year of experience.
- MRI Technologist experience within the last year.
- Experience with McKesson system.
- Experience with Epic system.
Compliance and Background Checks
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service.
- Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including:
- All states lived/worked in past 7 years.
- State of permanent residence.
- VA Statewide Repository Search.
- Sex Offender Registry.
- Education verification.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Virginia State Police fingerprinting required for certain units; MRI Techs require fingerprinting per state regulations.
- Drug testing within 60 days of start (9-panel minimum; instant drug screens not accepted).
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination.
- Negative TB test (Q-gold/T-spot or two PPDs) within 30 days of start.
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers with booster if low.
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (no declinations accepted without exemption).
- Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status.
Orientation and Competency Requirements
- Pharmacology exam, point of care testing, and airborne precaution mask fitting during orientation (for RNs; verify if applicable).
- Competency exams required as applicable.
- Color blindness testing required.
- Abuse reporting competency covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults.
- Completion of assigned learning modules (~6 hours) during orientation week.
- Facility-specific safety and confidentiality agreements required prior to start.
Documentation and Administrative Requirements
- Complete application/resume required.
- Two professional references required.
- Skills checklist must be updated annually.
- Virginia Central Registry (CPS) search and submission required within 48 hours of contract signing for applicable units.
- Proof of fingerprinting submission required within 48 hours of signed confirmation; candidates may start with results pending if proof is on file.
- Candidates must bring certain personal items prior to documentation due date (mask, non-wireless headphones, laptop or cell phone).
Additional Notes
- Locals allowed to apply at the same rate.
- No onsite certification renewals; renewals must be scheduled by the agency.
- Certifications expiring within 1 month of contract start will not be accepted.
- Candidates should upload all required documents with appropriate expiration dates as specified.
