Registered Respiratory Therapist

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM

Job Description

• Must hold a Wisconsin Respiratory Therapist license prior to start date.
• Current critical care experience required or experience within the last 12 months.
• Ability to manage a heavy workload.
• May need to float onsite within skill set or to other sites within 40 miles.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Prior travel experience required.
• Certifications required: PALS (mandatory), NRP (optional).

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Wisconsin.
• Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications issued by the American Heart Association.
• Prior travel experience.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Two MMR vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted).
  • Two Varicella vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history (no declinations accepted).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
  • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
  • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
• Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
• Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 Regular, 3M 1860 Small, or 3M 1870+), updated annually.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

• Professional credentials and documentation required prior to or at onboarding:

  • Resume/Profile and at least two professional references.
  • Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start.
  • Driver’s license or state ID (must be current and address verified).
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days of assignment start.
  • Employment and education verifications.
  • Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documents.
• Completion of facility-specific onboarding forms and attestations, including:

  • Respiratory Therapy Contract Worker Onboarding and Education Attestation.
  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum passing score.
  • Specialty exam demonstrating competency in respiratory therapy, updated every 3 years.
  • Skills checklist updated annually.
  • Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
• Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
• 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.

Additional Notes

• Shift is primarily overnight.
• Floating to other nearby sites may be required.
• Prior travel experience is mandatory for this role.
