Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract
Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Float Requirement: Must float between all facilities within the system
- Patient Population: Inpatient unit with a focus on stroke (neurology) patients and multiple co-morbidities
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:6
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
- Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Experience with telemetry remote monitoring required; on-unit telemetry monitoring preferred
- Experience with feeding tube care and management
- Proficient in accessing ports, blood product administration, central line and peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Skilled in care for CVA patients and use of nasal cannula
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, wound care, and wound vac management
- Experience managing patient ratios of 1:5-6
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)
- NIH Stroke Certification required
- Pass/fail EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam required (minimum 82% score, 2 attempts allowed)
- EPIC electronic health record system competency required
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) — verify with unit specifics
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card for badge issuance
- Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
- Transcript or diploma may be required for education verification
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination proof
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination proof
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Fit mask test completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
Additional Requirements
- Must complete mandatory onboarding tasks including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup prior to start
- Must review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement form
- Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Must complete and pass EPIC test (2 attempts allowed, 80% passing score)
- Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history required
- Verification of all employment within last 5 years through third-party vendor required
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Medication Administration Badge (MAB)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- EKG competency
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience managing nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6
Important Notes
- The client has a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance deadlines are strict; all required documentation must be submitted on time
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and floating between units/facilities
- Pass/fail EKG exam is mandatory for all RNs regardless of specialty
