Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Patient Population: Primarily Medical-Surgical (MS) on a telemetry-capable unit
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
  • Schedule: Every Other Weekend (EOW) / Every Other Holiday (EOH)
  • Must float to all campuses as needed for patient care

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Medication Administration Badge (MAB)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (must score 82% or higher; 2 attempts allowed)
  • EPIC electronic health record experience required
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification for MS/Tele units)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card for badge issuance
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript or diploma may be required for verification
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination proof
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination proof
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
  • Physical exam may be required depending on agency

Testing & Orientation

  • EPIC test required with passing score (80% or higher)
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs (except Behavioral Health or Case Managers)
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required (must float to all campuses)
  • Contractor Equipment Acknowledgement form required

Scheduling & Work Policies

  • Strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Flexible scheduling required
  • Must complete all compliance tasks by deadlines prior to start date

References & Work History

  • Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months)
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history required
  • Verification of all employment within last 5 years required through third-party vendor

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be aware of and agree to all job requirements and policies before submission
  • Candidates must submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility guidelines (no selfies, no filters, business casual or uniform attire, solid color background)
  • Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)

This position offers an opportunity for experienced RNs to work in a telemetry-capable medical-surgical unit with a supportive team environment and a structured schedule. First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply.
