Respiratory Therapist - Omaha, Nebraska

Contract Details

• Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days
• Hours per day: 12
• Hours per week: 36
• Orientation: 3 shifts of 12 hours each
• Weekend coverage: Every third weekend (days)
• Holiday coverage: Rotate with permanent staff
• Floating: Required to float to different hospital areas within RT capacity
• Scheduling: Team scheduling, 7am–7pm shifts
• Respiratory Therapist will not be the only RT in-house; lead RT present on each shift
• Hospitalist or Intensivist available 24/7

Patient Population & Work Environment

• Patient types: Neonates through geriatrics (all ages)
• Areas covered: Inpatient, all floors and units
• Equipment used:

  • Ventilators: Drager, Servo I, Carefusion (Heliox and NICU use only)
  • Bipap: Vision, V60, V30, Respironics S/T
  • High flow: Airvo2
• Procedures/skills required: EKGs, bedside bronchoscopies, bedside spirometry
• Teamwork emphasized between RTs, providers, and nursing staff
• Key attributes for success: Time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, teamwork, willingness to learn

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Nebraska
• Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma or Level 2 Trauma patients

Additional Requirements & Policies

• Radius rule: Candidate must live within 50 miles and may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with certain health systems within that radius
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
• Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals after submission
