Respiratory Therapist - Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Details
- Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Days
- Hours per day: 12
- Hours per week: 36
- Orientation: 3 shifts of 12 hours each
- Weekend coverage: Every third weekend (days)
- Holiday coverage: Rotate with permanent staff
- Floating: Required to float to different hospital areas within RT capacity
- Scheduling: Team scheduling, 7am–7pm shifts
- Respiratory Therapist will not be the only RT in-house; lead RT present on each shift
- Hospitalist or Intensivist available 24/7
Patient Population & Work Environment
- Patient types: Neonates through geriatrics (all ages)
- Areas covered: Inpatient, all floors and units
- Equipment used:
- Ventilators: Drager, Servo I, Carefusion (Heliox and NICU use only)
- Bipap: Vision, V60, V30, Respironics S/T
- High flow: Airvo2
- Procedures/skills required: EKGs, bedside bronchoscopies, bedside spirometry
- Teamwork emphasized between RTs, providers, and nursing staff
- Key attributes for success: Time management, flexibility, adaptability, communication, teamwork, willingness to learn
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Nebraska
- Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma or Level 2 Trauma patients
Additional Requirements & Policies
- Radius rule: Candidate must live within 50 miles and may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with certain health systems within that radius
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
- Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals after submission
