Location: Petoskey, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Days (12-hour shifts)
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Unit Overview
- Work on a 28-bed Medical Surgical Stepdown Unit with a diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients.
- Fast-paced, challenging environment focused on patient safety and quality care.
- Patient-centered nursing with emphasis on evidence-based and holistic care.
- Active Unit Based Council promoting teamwork and a positive work environment.
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration using clinical pathways, patient education, and interactive communication.
Job Description
- Provide care as a Cardiovascular Registered Nurse using clinical judgment to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions.
- Care for patients undergoing procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, bi-ventricular pacemakers, and post-open heart surgery (18-24 hours post-op).
- Manage patients with congestive heart failure and electrophysiology studies.
- Participate in clinical trials managed by the research department.
- The unit has received recognition for excellence in critical care nursing and cardiac care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Michigan
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Cardiology experience
Attendance Policy
- Strict 3-strike attendance policy: termination after 3 absences or being more than 20 minutes late for scheduled shifts, unless excused for communicable disease or hospitalization with supporting evidence.
- Policy effective starting 6/1/2024.
