Job Opportunity: Ortho RN Nights
Location: Evansville, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Unit & Patient Population
- 24-bed orthopedic unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio up to 1:6
- Patient population includes postoperative adult patients recovering from Orthopedic, Total Joint Replacement, Podiatry, and Spine surgeries
- Length of stay varies based on surgery and discharge needs
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
- Minimum of 2 years of orthopedic nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in orthopedic surgery nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Documentation of immunizations or immunity for:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
- Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); declinations accepted with mask requirement
- Tuberculosis screening:
- 2-step PPD or Negative IGRA within 90 days prior to start
- If positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start; can be completed onsite)
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Submission of professional resume/profile and at least two professional references prior to assignment
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and other required screenings within 30 days prior to start
- Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days prior to start
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding (done onsite)
- Forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations)
- Completion of skills checklist for specialty within one year of start, updated annually
- Confirmation of assignment documentation on agency letterhead with accurate start/end dates

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- The role focuses on night shift nursing care for orthopedic postoperative patients
- Compliance with all credentialing and testing requirements is mandatory for onboarding and continued assignment
