Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse
Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Patient Population
- Adults to Geriatrics
Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Approximately 36 hours per week
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Clinical Skills & Work Setting Requirements
- Experience in Emergency Room (ER) setting
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Central line care/management
- IV vasopressors administration
- CPAP/BiPAP management
- Care of ventilated patients
- Triage skills
Technology & Systems
- Familiarity with Pyxis medication system
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Return to Orientation (RTO) within 7 days maximum
- Weekend shifts every other weekend
- Floating required within facility and possibly to a sister campus, within scope of practice
- No on-call requirements
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday occurs during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays occur, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays occur, expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
Compliance & Onboarding
- Full compliance with all requirements needed to start on time
- Non-compliance may delay start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length
Required Documentation & Verifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Georgia, verified within 30 days prior to start
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including:
- County and national criminal searches
- Sex offender registry check
- Education verification of related degree
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (or per facility protocol if prior positive)
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or signed declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- Color blindness test required
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
- Two clinical references required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with recent ED experience within the last year
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Proficient in administration of IV vasopressors
- Skilled in management of CPAP/BiPAP
- Experience caring for ventilated patients
Additional Notes
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Floating may include sister campus within scope of practice
- No call requirements
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with ER experience seeking a travel contract in Georgia, comfortable with night shifts and working with adult to geriatric patients in a fast-paced emergency setting.
