Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Dothan, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:2
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Unit & Patient Population
- Labor and Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP) unit
- Patients include laboring mothers, antepartum patients as early as 27 weeks gestation
- Common diagnoses: Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (PIH) requiring magnesium therapy, preterm labor
- Continuous fetal monitoring and use of fetal scalp electrodes
- Procedures include IV starts, amnioinfusion, assisting anesthesia during epidural placement, and attending C-sections (non-scrub role)
- Unit uses EPIC and GE Centricity for documentation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License with name matching RN license
- Social Security Card or last four digits verification
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, sex offender registry, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks (all within 30 days of start)
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
- HIPAA attestation and Core Exams I-III (preferred from Prophecy; RN network orientation module not accepted)
- Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results (time-sensitive, must be completed prior to orientation)
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Annual fit mask test (specific approved mask models only)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (with booster or declination if low titer)
- 10-panel drug test within 90 days of start (instant/rapid tests not accepted) and updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for placements starting on or after September 15 (declinations not accepted; medical/religious exemptions require facility form and mask wearing)
- COVID-19 vaccination is voluntary
Additional Information
- No float requirement
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- Preferred badge name must be confirmed prior to start
- Candidate must live at least 90 miles from the facility
- Photo for badge required within 72 hours of signing (passport-style, no nose rings)
