Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
  • Call: Required with a 30-minute response time (non-negotiable)
  • Specialty: Open Heart or equivalent experience required (no first-time travelers unless experienced in open heart)
  • Experience: Must have experience with ECMO, LVAD, Impella, and preferably scrub experience
  • Procedures: Experience with CABG, mitral, tricuspid, and aortic valve replacement/repair, aortic dissections, pericardial window, thoracotomies, VATS, and robotic chest cases preferred
  • Scheduling: Flexibility required; zero tolerance for tardiness and unexcused absences

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse license for North Carolina with primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia exam (must pass with minimum 82%)
  • Additional Certifications (as applicable):
    • NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER and Cardiac Progressive Care RNs)
    • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
    • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score)
  • Testing: Pass/fail EPIC test may be required depending on specialty

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum of 1 year of CVOR experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases and multiple national/statewide checks
  • Education verification with foreign equivalency evaluation if education was obtained outside the U.S.
  • Transcript or diploma for highest education level (if applicable)
  • Fingerprinting required for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (must be completed in North Carolina)
  • Health History Form and immunization documentation (including Tdap, TB test, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine or approved exemption)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months of start
  • Proof of adult Tdap vaccine
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer or declination with booster series as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within current calendar year and updated annually

Employment History & References

  • Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history
  • Verification of employment for the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
  • Two supervisory references required from clinical positions (one within 12 months and one within 24 months prior to start)
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be aware of and agree to the facility’s zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Candidates must complete all compliance requirements by the deadline (12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date)
  • Candidates must acknowledge and pass required testing including EKG and EPIC as applicable
  • Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travelers unless experienced in open heart or equivalent

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR Registered Nurses with strong cardiac surgery and critical care backgrounds seeking a 13-week travel assignment in North Carolina.
