Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Every other weekend required
- Unable to approve time off requests for Memorial Day or 4th of July
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
- Minimum 4 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience
- 4 years respiratory specialty experience preferred (minimum 2 years considered)
- No prior travel experience explicitly required
Certifications & Compliance
- Must meet all required background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and federal/state screenings
- Required health documents include:
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and titers: Tdap, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine (seasonal)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Qgold) or chest X-ray if positive
- Drug screening (10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl) within 2 months of start, updated annually
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient positions
- Professional appearance guidelines and compliance documents must be reviewed and acknowledged prior to start
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
- Skills checklist and competency exams must be current and updated annually
- Fingerprinting required for certain behavioral health assignments (not applicable to this role unless assigned to those units)
Notes
- Shift is 48 hours per week, with 36 or 48 hours options mentioned but primary schedule is 4x12 hour day shifts
- No exemptions or declinations accepted for required immunizations
- Facility-specific forms and screenings must be completed prior to start
