Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Columbus, Georgia

- Infants to Geriatrics (Primarily adult patients, including pediatric intubated patients)
Work Setting
- Level 2 trauma center
- Interventional stroke certified
- Level 3 NICU (regional transport resource)
- Floating within facility and sister campus as needed
- No call requirements
Shift Details
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 to 7:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Holidays: Expected to work 1 or 2 major holidays if they fall within the assignment period
Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day
Required Experience and Certifications
- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Clinical Skills and Responsibilities
- Manage non-invasive and conventional ventilation
- Aerosol therapy
- Bedside pulmonary function tests
- Perform arterial lines and arterial blood gases
- Oxygen management and patient education
- Perform capillary blood gases and draws from lines

Orientation and Compliance
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements required to start on time; delays result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
Blackout Dates (No shifts available)
- Night shift: June (total blackout), July 5th-31st, August 1st-2nd
- Day shift: June (total blackout), July 15th-31st, August 1st-9th
Required Documentation and Compliance
Background and Verification
- Background check required within 30 days prior to start; must include national and county criminal searches, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and education verification
- Education verification required; diplomas required for RRTs
- Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
- Two clinical references required
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific protocols if prior positive TB)
- TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination)
- Flu vaccine or declination required annually (strongly encouraged during flu season)
Drug Testing
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
- Panels include Amphetamines, Methamphetamines, Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, Cocaine, Opiates, Methadone, Phencyclidine, Propoxyphene, THC
Competency Exams (Aya required)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Color blind testing (with alternative evaluation if needed)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
- General competency exam for nursing/allied health
Facility Policies
- Review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
