Registered Nurse – PCU/Telemetry
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care on a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with Telemetry monitoring.
- Must have recent experience with Epic electronic health record system (within the last year).
- Float required.
- No block schedules allowed.
- Solid black scrubs required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Med/Surg nursing experience.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required for submission.
- Fit test for N95 respirators (3M 1870+, Medline Cone Small, 3M 1860 Reg & Small) within one year of start, updated annually.
- Pre-employment physical within one year, including assessment of ability to perform essential job functions safely.
- Unit-specific competency exam, skills checklist, EKG and Telemetry exams with passing scores within one year of start, updated annually.
- Core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission NPSG, OSHA topics within 90 days of start, updated annually.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- Criminal background check (FCRA compliant 7-year search plus SSN trace, nationwide checks) within 90 days of start.
- OIG, EPLS, and education verifications within 90 days of start.
- Social Security card or number verification required.
Immunization & Health Requirements
- MMR: Titer or 2 vaccines; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Titer or complete 3-series vaccine; signed declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines; no declinations accepted.
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot): Negative results required; no declinations accepted.
- Annual TB questionnaire (facility-specific form) completed, signed, and dated.
- Influenza vaccine required October–April (medical/religious exemptions require approval and documentation).
- COVID-19 vaccine strongly recommended (medical/religious exemptions reviewed case-by-case).
- Tdap within 10 years recommended.
- If positive PPD, chest X-ray within 1 year of start required.
Additional Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) documentation required at submission; maximum 7 days allowed.
- No RTO allowed during first two weeks of assignment.
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg RNs with PCU/Telemetry skills seeking a 13-week long-term assignment on a night shift.
