Job Opportunity: RRT PICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role: Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NICU experience
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (schedule published in 6-week blocks)
• On-Call: Not required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• Certifications (AHA approved):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Orientation & Onboarding

• Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
• Competency exams and unit-specific competency checklists required
• Must complete all required online modules prior to orientation
• Must set up a facility-specific guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start date
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with documentation if history of positive PPD)
• Required vaccinations or immunity documentation:

  • Measles (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Mumps (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Rubella (1 vaccine or positive titer)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no exemptions)
  • Polio vaccine or signed attestation
  • Seasonal flu vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
• Drug test: Negative 10-panel (including THC) within 30 days of start
• Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) if applicable

Documentation & Background Checks

• Valid driver’s license or government-issued photo ID
• Social Security card (if used for I9 verification)
• Background check within 90 days including:

  • SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification for Respiratory Care program graduation
• Professional references: 2 required from employment within last 12 months (at least 1 supervisor)
• Employment application with 7 years of work history

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates within 75 miles are considered
• Candidates with less than 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some document requirements waived or accepted on file
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training provided onsite if not already held
