Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in Greensboro, North Carolina


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: Every 3rd weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float: Required to float between all campuses as needed
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Unit: Inpatient Acute Care Rehab (specialized care for patients with CVA, TBI, ABI, spinal cord injury, neurological diagnoses, generalized debility, post-op surgical, stroke, aneurysm)

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Interpretation of laboratory results
  • Medication reconciliation
  • Patient health history, allergies, and vital signs monitoring (BP, respirations, temperature, pulse)
  • Dressing changes and aseptic/sterile procedure setup
  • Capillary blood draws, specimen labeling, throat and urine collection (UA clean catch), phlebotomy
  • Telephone triage and pharmacy calls/patient refill requests

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, criminal, sex offender, federal court, education verification, and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification by a 3rd party (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript or diploma copy for highest nursing education
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit mask test completed within current calendar year (N95 respirators approved)
  • Physical exam (if applicable)
  • Fingerprinting (only required for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions)

Onboarding & Orientation

  • Completion of mandatory questionnaire prior to offer
  • Review and acknowledgment of floating policy and contractor equipment form
  • Completion of health history form including any work restrictions
  • Submission of a professional badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • Workday login and onboarding tasks including multi-factor authentication setup before first day
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal

References & Work History

  • Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months)
  • Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history
  • Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third-party vendor

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Compliance deadlines are strict; all documentation must be completed by noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date
  • Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travelers accepted

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized inpatient rehab setting with a focus on neurological and acute care patients during night shifts on a travel contract basis.
