Description

Registered Nurse (ER RN) - Travel Assignment in Arizona

Job Details

  • Location: Glendale, Arizona
  • Unit: Emergency Department (ED)
  • ED Beds: 12
  • Shift: Nights
  • Hours per Day: 12
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Patient Acuity: Lower acuity (ESI 3-4), common diagnoses include abdominal pain, headache; stabilize and transfer critically ill patients
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per month (4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks)
  • Orientation: 2 days floor-specific orientation
  • EMR System: Cerner
  • Charge Nurse: Yes, with no patient assignment unless census exceeds 20
  • Support Staff: Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and Paramedics
  • Pharmacy Coverage: 6 AM–5 PM onsite; nights covered via main campus
  • Hospitalist/Intensivist Coverage: 1 ED MD and 1 mid-level provider during the day
  • Additional Notes:
    • RNs perform labs, EKGs, PT, and patient transfers
    • Emphasis on maintaining positive culture and teamwork
    • Scrub color: Navy
    • Telemetry system: Phillips

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications

Additional Information

  • No trauma experience required
  • Float assignments to Litchfield and Glendale Freestanding Emergency Departments (FSED); no float to main campus without appropriate acuity experience
  • 50-mile radius rule applies for candidate submissions (driver’s license is source of truth)

This opportunity is ideal for ER nurses with solid clinical skills, who are comfortable working in a smaller facility with a focus on teamwork and maintaining sterile technique.
