Description

Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Unit Details

  • Patient diagnoses include General Medical-Surgical, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Radial Bands recovery (no PCI)
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
  • No call required
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • No block schedule requests allowed

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • First-time travel nurses accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time
  • Orientation hours are non-billable and vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification and criminal history
  • Physical exam required within 12 months of start (agency requirement)
  • Drug screen (10-panel) required within 60 days of start; candidates cannot start with results pending
  • Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB test results; TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months of start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
  • Tdap vaccine highly recommended but not required for clearance

Work Expectations

  • If one major holiday falls during assignment, traveler is expected to work it
  • If two major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work both
  • If three major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work two of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
  • Color blindness testing required; alternative assessment available if needed for blood collection tasks
  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency (not client)
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Verification of most recent work history required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

Notes

  • Locals accepted at same rate as travelers
  • Manager review of candidate profile and schedule fit occurs within 48 hours of confirmation
  • Maximum 7-day turnaround time for credentialing (RTO)
  • No clinical remediation allowed for competency exams; work remediation permitted

This position offers a night shift travel nursing opportunity in a medical-surgical unit with a focus on general med-surg care and dialysis recovery. It requires a minimum of 2 years RN experience, full compliance with credentialing and immunization requirements, and flexibility to work holidays as assigned.
