Cath Lab Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Port St Lucie, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts or 40 hours for 4x10 shifts
- On-call requirement for evenings and weekends
- Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Pending licenses are not accepted
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 18 months RN experience required before travel assignments; 2 years preferred
- STEMI (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction) experience required
- Proficiency with Balloon pump, Impella, Atherectomy devices, cardiac medication drips, and emergency medications
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current RN license valid in Florida (Primary source verification required within 30 days of start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from AHA or American Red Cross (provider card or RQI acceptable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA or American Red Cross (provider card or RQI acceptable)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required and must be current
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting mandatory if no prior clearance)
- Physical exam within 6 months of start date
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer; exemptions for candidates born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (no annual update required)
- Seasonal influenza vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed with approved documentation)
- COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
Onboarding & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory; modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome
- Pass/Fail testing on EKG and pharmacology administered during orientation (2 attempts allowed per test)
- Medication and competency exams as applicable to specialty
- Facility-specific forms such as Omnicell Access Form required for all RNs
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
- Acknowledgement of facility privacy policies and testing requirements
- Time-sensitive training modules must be prioritized and completed promptly once assigned
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1.5 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience
- Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Notes
- Candidates must be aware of the on-call requirement for evenings and weekends
- Candidates cannot delay completion of mandatory modules and documentation
- Fingerprint clearance must be on file prior to start; candidates cannot begin work with fingerprints pending
- Candidates with prior background check issues may experience longer clearance times and must provide official court documents if requested
This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs with STEMI experience who are comfortable with advanced cardiac devices and emergency medications, and who can commit to a 13-week travel contract with on-call responsibilities.
