Registered Nurse – Med-Surg Telemetry Unit (Night Shift)
Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Includes weekends and holidays
- No on-call duties
- Patient population includes Cardiac, Diabetes, CHF, COPD, Renal, General Surgery, and Orthopedics
- Unit size: 42-bed Med-Surg Telemetry
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- May be required to float to similar or lower acuity units
- May care for IMCU patients based on census
- Must be proficient with Insulin, Heparin, and Lasik drips
- No local candidates within a 50-mile radius
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
Additional Information
- Orientation includes NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training for ER RNs; for this role, CPI online certification is required
- Facility requires primary source verification of licenses and certifications within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccine is mandatory during flu season (Oct 1 – Feb 28) with medical or religious exemptions requiring approval
- Drug screen must include marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, PCP, opiates, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, oxycodone, and methamphetamine
- Candidates must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation with application to be considered
- Candidates will be reviewed and interviewed by the manager
Patient Care Environment
- Work with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, LPNs, PCTs, CNAs, and unit secretaries
- Exposure to a variety of patient conditions including cardiac and surgical cases
- Telemetry monitoring required (Telemetry unit)
This position offers a comprehensive experience in a busy Med-Surg Telemetry unit with a diverse patient population and requires strong clinical skills, certifications, and compliance with facility-specific policies and health requirements.
