Description

Registered Nurse – Med-Surg Telemetry Unit (Night Shift)

Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Includes weekends and holidays
  • No on-call duties
  • Patient population includes Cardiac, Diabetes, CHF, COPD, Renal, General Surgery, and Orthopedics
  • Unit size: 42-bed Med-Surg Telemetry
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
  • May be required to float to similar or lower acuity units
  • May care for IMCU patients based on census
  • Must be proficient with Insulin, Heparin, and Lasik drips
  • No local candidates within a 50-mile radius

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Med-Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification

Additional Information

  • Orientation includes NCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training for ER RNs; for this role, CPI online certification is required
  • Facility requires primary source verification of licenses and certifications within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccine is mandatory during flu season (Oct 1 – Feb 28) with medical or religious exemptions requiring approval
  • Drug screen must include marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, PCP, opiates, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, oxycodone, and methamphetamine
  • Candidates must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation with application to be considered
  • Candidates will be reviewed and interviewed by the manager

Patient Care Environment

  • Work with a multidisciplinary team including RNs, LPNs, PCTs, CNAs, and unit secretaries
  • Exposure to a variety of patient conditions including cardiac and surgical cases
  • Telemetry monitoring required (Telemetry unit)

This position offers a comprehensive experience in a busy Med-Surg Telemetry unit with a diverse patient population and requires strong clinical skills, certifications, and compliance with facility-specific policies and health requirements.
