Operating Room Registered Nurse - Akron, Ohio (Travel/Contract)

Job Details

  • Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
  • Location: Akron, Ohio
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Orientation: 32-40 hours

Job Description

  • Circulator role in the Operating Room; scrub experience preferred
  • No on-call duties and no weekend shifts

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1.5 years recent Operating Room nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Certifications & Preferences

  • CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) preferred but not required
  • PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO certifications not required for this role
  • Pass/Fail competency exams (medication administration and ECG) required during orientation unless exempted as a legacy or agency flip candidate

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required; must carry while on assignment
  • Comprehensive background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform job functions safely
  • Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required with official documentation:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with boosters if titers negative or equivocal
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; exemptions require approval)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Resume/CV with 3 years prior work history including at least 2 years clinical acute care experience; gaps longer than one month must be explained
  • Two professional references from within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone)
  • Photo for badge (headshot, shoulders up, white background) required
  • Baseline competency exams during orientation (medication administration and ECG interpretation)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Physical exam and eye exam do not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without a break; for gaps longer than 30 days, updated exams are required
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies; notification required to ensure latex-free supplies
  • Medical and religious exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency approval and facility review
  • Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgement and competency testing
