Cath Lab Technologist

Location: Bakersfield, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours: 12 hours/day, 36 hours/week

Job Overview

• Work in a STEMI receiving facility with a focus on cardiac/coronary, vascular, peripheral, general interventional radiology (IR), and neuro intervention cases.
• Cases are performed with two techs: one scrubs in and one monitors hemodynamics. An RN provides conscious sedation. Occasionally, a fourth team member (RN or tech) may assist.
• Five procedure suites:

  • 2 suites primarily for coronary cases
  • 1 suite for peripheral cases
  • 1 suite for vascular and neuro cases
  • 1 suite for electrophysiology (EP) cases
• Average caseload ranges from 10 to 22 cases per day.
• Rotate call for inpatient and emergent cases approximately once per week.
• Weekend call approximately one weekend per month (Friday evening through Monday morning), subject to change based on unit needs.

Required Qualifications

• Current Cath Lab experience is mandatory.
• Certifications required:

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Fluoroscopy certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
• RCIS or CCT certifications are NOT accepted.
• Must be comfortable with:

  • Conscious and moderate sedation procedures
  • Procedural processes and airway management
  • Managing cardiac drips such as Integrilin, dopamine, and vasopressors
  • Balloon pump operation
• Prior travel experience: No first-time travelers accepted (must have prior travel experience).

• The role involves working closely with a Lead Tech responsible for room assignments.
