Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics

Unit and Work Environment

  • Telemetry unit
  • Common diagnoses: CHF, MI/Chest pain (pre- and post-cath), Dysrhythmias (pre- and post-device implants), Hypo-/Hypertension, Pleural effusion, Sepsis, PE/DVT/vascular issues
  • Patient ratio: 1:4-5
  • Census: 16 rooms
  • Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue

Shift Details

  • Day shift: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Call: None

Holidays

  • If one major holiday falls during assignment, traveler is expected to work it
  • If two major holidays fall, traveler must work both
  • If three major holidays fall, traveler must work two
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance and Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Return to Orientation (RTO) maximum 7 days
  • RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length

Background and Documentation Requirements

  • Photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start (including criminal, sex offender, education verification)
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • State license verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (agency requirement)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (cannot start with results pending)
  • TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest x-ray if positive history
  • TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations:
    • Flu vaccine or declination required (seasonal)
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • References: 2 clinical references required (agency requirement)
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Work history verification of most recent employer (can be pending at start with proof)

  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Floating within facility as needed
  • No call requirements
  • Candidate must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • Must comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures
