Description

Registered Nurse (PCU) - Nebraska, Omaha

Job Details

  • Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Days (06:30 - 19:00)
  • Hours per Day: 12
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Unit Beds: 35
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs
  • Common Drips to Titrate: Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure medications
  • Charge Nurse: Present on each shift (does not take patient assignment)
  • Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Present with ratios approximately 1:10 or 2:20
  • Floating Requirements: May float to medical floors, ICU, or rehab
  • Orientation: First week onboarding plus 1-2 days unit-specific orientation
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Every third holiday
  • Call/Standby: None
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced; success attributes include positive attitude, teamwork, good communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum 1 year of experience on a PCU or similar unit
  • Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications
  • Valid driver’s license (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
  • Must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book exam during orientation

Additional Information

  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
  • Candidates cannot be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system within a 50-mile radius
  • Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
