  • 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week

Job Description

Provide nursing care to pediatric ICU patients under general supervision. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing an assigned group of patients
  • Documenting patient responses and changes in physician orders
  • Assisting physicians with examinations and minor procedures
  • Monitoring physiological data and intervening as needed
  • Administering medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products
  • Delivering competent patient care
  • Communicating care plans with patients and families, including at discharge
  • Informing patients and families about hospital procedures
  • Referring patient care needs to appropriate personnel
  • Delegating tasks to support staff

Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience within the last year
  • Level I trauma experience

Education:

  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
  • Some computer skills
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
