Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbus, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week (12 hours each, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)

Patient Population & Work Setting

• Patient population ranges from infants to geriatrics, primarily adult patients but includes pediatric intubated patients.
• Facility is a Level 2 trauma center with interventional stroke certification and a Level 3 NICU (regional transport resource).
• Work involves managing non-invasive and conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, bedside pulmonary function tests, arterial lines, oxygen management, patient education, arterial and capillary blood gases, and line draws.
• Trauma experience is required.
• Pulmonary function testing (spirometry) is preferred.
• Floating within the facility and to a sister campus as needed.
• No call requirements.
• Every other weekend work expected.
• Holiday work expectations: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, must work it; if 2 holidays, must work both; if 3 holidays, must work 2 of them. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification

• Patient monitors: GE Carescape

Orientation & Compliance

• Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days.
• Full compliance with all onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week start delay.
• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length.
• Dress code: Slate gray scrubs.
• Candidates accepted locally at the same rate.

Blackout Dates (No shifts available)

• Night shift: June (full month), July 5th–31st, August 1st–2nd.
• Day shift: June (full month), July 15th–31st, August 1st–9th.

Summary

This travel Respiratory Therapist position requires at least 1 year of experience, Georgia RRT licensure, and certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS. The role involves working in a trauma and NICU-certified facility with a diverse patient population. Candidates must be prepared for floating assignments, weekend work every other weekend, and holiday coverage as specified. Full compliance with onboarding, immunizations, background checks, and competency exams is required to start. The contract length is approximately 14 weeks with day shifts of 12 hours each.
