Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Days)
Location: Towson, Maryland
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Job Description
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care in accordance with professional nursing standards and organizational policies.
- Accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self and others under direction.
- Utilize specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of patients.
- Must be willing to care for Telemetry patients as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
- Minimum 2 years experience working with stroke patients (must be listed on resume).
- Must obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification within 48 hours if offered.
- Must obtain mRs/SIREN Certification within 48 hours if offered.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with verification less than 30 days old.
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- COVID-19 vaccination required; declinations are not accepted. Must be state recorded.
- Candidates must have no scheduling restrictions and be willing to work the facility’s schedule.
- Locals are accepted.
Documentation & Profile Requirements
- Current resume with explanations for any gaps over 30 days.
- Two supervisory references: one from the last 6 months and one from the last 12 months.
- Skills checklist specific to Medical-Surgical nursing discipline.
- RN license verification (Nursys or equivalent) less than 30 days old.
Work Schedule & Hours
- Day shift, 12 hours per day.
- Candidates may request time off equivalent to 1 week of contracted hours (e.g., 36 or 40 hours depending on contracted hours), either in a single block or split dates.
- Overtime starts after 48 hours worked.
Additional Information
- Orientation sessions are held every other week on Tuesday and Wednesday; candidates may be considered for orientations scheduled up to 6 weeks in advance.
- Facility is a 257 licensed bed acute and sub-acute care center with a high volume of admissions and emergency visits.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, community and university-level medicine environment.
