Job Opportunity: RRT PICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NICU experience
- Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 7:15)
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (schedule published in 6-week blocks)
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Certifications (AHA approved):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID
- Social Security Card (if used for I9 verification)
- Background checks within 90 days of start, including:
- SSN Trace, County, Alias, Nationwide, Sex Offender, International (if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification confirming graduation from an accredited Respiratory Care program
- Drug test: Negative 10-panel (including THC) within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years, no exemptions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (vaccines or positive antibody titers, no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine (required annually during flu season; no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- Competency exam and unit-specific competency checklist (CBO) to be completed within 3 weeks after start
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card training provided onsite if not already held
Additional Requirements
- Must set up a facility-specific Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Two professional references required from employment within the last 12 months, including at least one supervisor
- Employment application and skills checklist must be current and complete
- Completion of required online orientation modules prior to start
Notes
- First-time travelers and local candidates within 75 miles are eligible
- No on-call requirement for this position
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments may have some document requirements waived or accepted on file
