Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location

  • Columbus, Georgia

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 6 weeks

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an RRT
  • Trauma experience required
  • Pulmonary function testing (Spirometry) preferred
  • 1st time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Patient Population

  • Infants to Geriatrics (primarily adult patients, but will work with pediatric intubated patients)

Work Setting

  • Level 2 trauma center
  • Interventional stroke certified
  • Level 3 NICU (regional transport resource)
  • Floating required within facility and sister campus as needed

Shift Details

  • Day shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM to 7:00 PM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No call requirements
  • Holiday work expectations: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2, expected to work both; if 3, expected to work 2 of them
    Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Clinical Skills and Responsibilities

  • Manage non-invasive and conventional ventilation
  • Aerosol therapy
  • Bedside pulmonary function tests
  • Perform arterial lines and arterial blood gases
  • Oxygen management and patient education
  • Perform capillary blood gases and draws from lines

Systems Used

  • Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, Viasys Avea

Required Certifications and Licenses

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Compliance and Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days

Required Documentation and Health Requirements

  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start (including education verification and criminal searches)
  • Diploma/transcript verification for RRTs
  • State license verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
  • TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations or positive titers required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer or signed declination)
    • Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • Color blindness test required
  • Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams (specific to specialty)

Additional Requirements

  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Two clinical references required

  • Scrub color: Slate Gray
  • Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
