Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER

Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 48 hours


Job Description

  • Work in a Level I Trauma Center, short-term acute care hospital.
  • Must be willing to work 48 hours per week.
  • Large hospital experience preferred.
  • On-call and weekend shifts required as needed.
  • Weekend block scheduling may be considered but not guaranteed.
  • No local candidates accepted within a 100-mile radius.
  • Pending licenses are not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Tennessee
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
  • Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Two forms of government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license, social security card, passport).
  • Background checks within 60 days of start, including statewide, county, federal, and education verification.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually.
  • Separate sex offender search required.
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search required.
  • Education verification required (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu).
  • Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending compliance allowed).
  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands.
  • Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year, must pass without limitations.
  • Immunizations required:
    • Proof of 2 doses or positive titer for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (booster series required if titers low or equivocal).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or positive titer or signed declination.
    • TB test (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year; if positive, negative chest x-ray within 2 years plus annual TB questionnaire.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30). Exemptions require mask-wearing in patient areas and may delay start date.

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge must meet strict guidelines (passport-style, no glasses glare, no hats/head coverings except religious, no piercings visible).
  • Two recent professional references required.
  • Skills checklist and internal evaluations required annually or if employed with agency for one year or more.
  • EPIC questionnaire required for RNs; EPIC experience may allow testing out of training.
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed.
