Registered Nurse – Stepdown Unit (Travel/Contract)
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Overview
- Work in Stepdown/Med Surg Overflow with Cardiovascular experience preferred
- Team nursing model with a 1:12 nurse-to-patient ratio
- On-call and weekend work required as needed (no weekend block scheduling, but weekend blocks may be considered)
- First-time travel nurses not accepted
- Local candidates within 100-mile radius not accepted
- Start date: ASAP
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent Stepdown experience
- One completed travel nursing assignment
- Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (annual renewal)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (updated annually)
- Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) updated annually
- Additional certifications such as PALS, TNCC, NRP, EFM not required for this assignment
Additional Requirements
- Photo badge meeting strict guidelines (passport-style, no glasses glare, no hats/head coverings except religious, no piercings visible)
- Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs, no prints or embroidery on scrubs
- Submission of all required documents including professional license, background checks, immunizations, drug test, physical exam, and competency exams prior to start
- Onsite fit test and EPIC questionnaire may be required if applicable
- Confidentiality acknowledgment and flu exemption forms must be signed if applicable
Work Environment
- Short-term acute care hospital, Level I Trauma Center
- Team nursing with a 1:12 ratio
- Schedule may be 36 or 48 hours per week, subject to change during interview

- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application; no changes after offer
- Candidates cannot be submitted to multiple job IDs/facilities simultaneously
- No pending licenses or local candidates accepted
- First-time travel nurses not accepted
