Job Opportunity: Staff Nurse

Location: Johnson City, New York
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, every other weekend
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with nursing standards and promotes a patient-centered, healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients as primary or accountable nurse.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
• Administer medications safely with knowledge of pharmacology.
• Manage resources effectively, including staffing, time, and supplies.
• Comply with nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in nursing governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
• Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
• Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
• Support learning for new employees and students.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year.
• Experience in cardiac telemetry stepdown and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) settings.
• Proficient in the use of TR band.
• Experience managing cardiac drips at a flat rate, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Heparin, and Insulin.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• ACLS certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• Additional certifications such as PALS, TNCC as required by the assigned unit.
• Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.
