Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit Details
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
- No call required
- Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Minimum experience: 1 year (first-time travelers accepted)
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
- Full compliance with onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
- Non-billable orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Background and Verification
- Background check completed within 30 days of start, including:
- County, national, and sex offender searches
- Education verification of related degree (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
- Two clinical references required
Health and Immunizations
- Physical exam within 12 months of start (agency requirement)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (PPD, QGold, or TSpot)
- Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
Policies and Orientation
- Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
- Floating within facility as needed, within scope of practice
- Orientation scheduled bi-weekly; compliance required to avoid start delays
Additional Notes
- Locals accepted at same rate as travelers
- Agency offers profile review within 48 hours of submission to confirm fit for unit/schedule/expertise
- Orientation hours are non-billable and proportional to contract length
