Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/ICU/IMC
Location: Minocqua, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts (1900 - 0730), 36 hours per week
Unit Details
- Unit Type: Medical-Surgical (MS), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Intermediate Care (IMC)
- Number of Beds: 20
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- MS: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights)
- IMC: 1:4
- ICU: 1:2
- Pediatrics: 1:3-4
- Patient Population: Primarily elderly with cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, skin, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, orthopedic, sepsis, and stable pediatric cases
- Common Diagnoses Include: CHF exacerbation, Afib RVR, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure post-op, stroke, cellulitis, GI bleed, kidney stones, hip fractures, sepsis, and more
- Pediatric Patients: Stable respiratory illness, post-op appendectomy, dehydration requiring IV hydration
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license
- Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA)
- ICU experience required; pediatric ICU experience preferred
- Ability to titrate drips (e.g., heparin, insulin, amiodarone, cardizem, PCA fentanyl, propofol, norepinephrine)
- Ability to read cardiac rhythm strips (telemetry monitored remotely)
Work Environment & Support
- Telemetry monitored remotely by tele techs; RNs must interpret rhythm strips if needed
- Charge nurses take patient assignments; house supervisors do not
- CNAs available with ratios approximately 1:8-10 on days and nights
- Respiratory Therapists available 24/7; equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, Servo U and Hamilton ventilators
Scheduling & Requirements
- 12-hour shifts: 0700-1930 or 1900-0730 (nights)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: Every other holiday
- Call/Standby: Yes, on rotation during low census; rare cancellations
- Floating: Required in-house to ED, Urgent Care, PACU; interfacility float to nearby locations
- Orientation: 1 day computer-based training and hospital orientation, plus 1-2 days on-shift orientation
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs for RNs
Additional Notes
- Clinicians who have previously worked at this facility must have a minimum 6-month gap since last employment
- All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
