Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Germantown, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed and may change based on management needs
- Must be willing to take call (details discussed during interview)
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years recent OR (Operating Room) experience without travel, or
- Minimum 2 years recent OR experience with prior travel experience
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Must hold a Tennessee nursing license or a compact nursing license at time of submission (pending licenses or licenses not meeting Nurse Licensure Compact guidelines are not accepted)
- Must live at least 100 miles from the facility (no exceptions)
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 60 days of start, including statewide, county, federal searches, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Sex offender search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search (TN only)
- Education verification (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu)
- Two recent professional references required
- Skills checklist and internal evaluation required if employed with agency for one year or more
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year (must pass without limitations; facial hair must be shaved if it causes failure)
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (no pending results accepted)
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Measles (Rubeola) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if low/equivocal
- Mumps – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if low/equivocal
- Rubella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if low/equivocal
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if low/equivocal
- Hepatitis B – 3 shot series, positive titer, or signed declination
- TB screening: True 2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 2 years plus annual TB questionnaire
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30); exemptions require mask-wearing in patient areas and may delay start date
Documentation & Submission Requirements
- Return to Office (RTO) form due at time of submission
- Two forms of government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license, social security card, passport)
- Photo for badge: recent (within 6 months), shoulders up, forward facing, no hats/headphones/glasses glare, neutral expression
- Submission packet includes application, references, skills checklist, state license verification, and certification information
- Facility-specific dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed

- Candidates must be prepared for possible schedule changes during interviews
- Prior travel experience is required if only 2 years of recent OR experience is held
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation deadlines to ensure clearance and start on time
