Sonographer - Durango, Colorado

Job Details

  • Specialty: Ultrasound Tech (Sonographer)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Days
  • Hours: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (40 hours/week)
  • Schedule: Variable days, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, except when on call
  • Call Requirement: Yes, 1-2 nights per week and every 3rd weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Yes, if needed
  • Scrub/Dress Code: Any professional color scrubs (scrubs not provided)

Department & Work Environment

  • Department: Radiology - Ultrasound
  • Number of Scanners/Rooms: 4
  • Float/Cover Other Areas: No
  • Radiologist Availability: In-house except on call
  • Use of Registered Radiology Assistants: No
  • IV Starts Required: No
  • Imaging Types: General, OBGYN, Vascular (vascular preferred), Procedures, Drains, Biopsies
  • Average Scans per Day: 8-10, sometimes more
  • Equipment: Phillips ultrasound machines
  • EMR/PACS System: Fuji EPIC

Required Qualifications

  • Certifications: ARDMS (RDMS required for General or OBGYN; RVT preferred; RDCS is a bonus), BLS (AHA)
  • Experience: Strong General and OBGYN ultrasound experience required; vascular experience preferred
  • Skills: Must be proficient in ultrasound procedures
  • License: Valid state license as required for Ultrasound Tech
  • Additional: Must submit a valid driver’s license; agency must provide traveler radiation badge

Orientation & Hiring Process

  • Orientation: Department-specific orientation during the first week (4x10 hr shifts, variable days)
  • Hiring Process: Profile review with clinical team, followed by interview with unit manager
  • Location Requirement: Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week, even if some modules are remote
  • Travel Radius: 60 miles

This position is ideal for ultrasound technologists with solid general and OBGYN experience seeking a 13-week contract with a structured schedule and call responsibilities in a radiology department using Phillips equipment and Fuji EPIC systems.
