Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Unit Census: 32 rooms, average daily census of 29
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Electronic Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Holiday Work: If one major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if two, expected to work both; if three, expected to work two.
  • Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days; blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Experience in Charge Nurse roles
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

  • Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
  • State license verification and annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start (required by agency, not client)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months, plus annual TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters as needed
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
  • Competency exams required by agency: medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG (specific to Telemetry and related units)
  • Color blind testing required
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Verification of most recent work history required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Two clinical references required
