Job Summary

The Interventional Technologist I assists physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor, and treat a range of conditions without surgery. This role is suitable for those gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or experienced imaging professionals starting a career in this specialty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist providers during minimally invasive procedures such as cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization, and pain management.
  • Operate specialized radiologic equipment and apply techniques for diagnostic, interventional, and invasive procedures within scope of practice.
  • Maintain sterile fields and adhere to safety protocols during procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and provide comfort.
  • Act as scrub tech during procedures.
  • Respond to patient and family inquiries regarding diagnostic testing and results timelines.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure exceptional patient care.
  • Conduct post-procedure quality reviews and ensure documentation meets standards.
  • Transfer images and data to electronic health systems and prepare studies for physician reporting.
  • Perform equipment quality control, cleaning, disinfecting, and maintenance per guidelines.
  • Support quality assurance, audits, and performance improvement activities.
  • Provide on-call clinical coverage on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
  • Participate in teaching and mentoring students and new team members.
  • Assist with onboarding new staff.

Work Schedule

  • Four 10-hour shifts per week with a rotating day off.
  • Call as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of a post-secondary health science program such as cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, paramedic/EMT, or completion of a JRCERT accredited military educational program.
  • Entry into practice education must be one of the following:
    • Associate degree or higher in Radiologic Technology, OR
    • 2-year RCIS program.
  • Certifications:
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire.
    • ARRT (RT), RCES, or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire.
  • Experience:
    • Interventional Technology experience required.
    • Cath lab experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of medical imaging principles, patient positioning, anatomy, and physiology related to specialty procedures.
    • Ability to apply sterile field techniques consistently.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and remain calm under stress.
    • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
    • Sensitivity to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
    • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and standards.
    • Dependability and accuracy in record-keeping.

Additional Information

  • Candidates without prior travel or trauma experience will be considered.
  • On-call coverage includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
