Job Details

• Unit: ICU (33 beds, average daily census 16)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2-3 for adults
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress
• Orientation: 1 shift of unit/department-specific orientation
• Return to Office (RTO): Required within 7 days upfront for the 13-week contract; no additional RTO approved
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday Requirement: Minimum of 2 holidays during contract period
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling available for core staff and travelers; block scheduling generally not approved except possibly for weekends only
• Call Back: If placed on call and called back in, must arrive within 30 minutes

Clinical Responsibilities

• RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips (monitor brand: GE) with tele tech oversight
• Troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilators
• Floating assignments typically to PCU or occasionally MedSurg with typical patient ratios (1:4 or 1:5)
• Nurse aides and healthcare support techs assist based on census and volume

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Current RN license
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Additional Requirements and Policies

• Must have a valid driver’s license at time of submission (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
• Candidates may not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with a specific health system (restriction applies)
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove will result in contract termination
• RN candidates must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book exam during orientation (exam covers skills learned)
• Block scheduling and duo scheduling requests are generally not approved
• Fingernail policy strictly enforced

Notes

• Nurse aides and healthcare support techs are scheduled Monday-Friday, 0800-1630, 3 days per week
• Weekend days are Saturday and Sunday
