Registered Nurse (RN) - Long Term Care (LTC)
Location: Beaver Dam, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility & Unit Details
- Type: Nursing Home attached to hospital
- Beds/Residents: 70 (majority private)
- EMR System: ECS
- Patient Population: Dementia, frail elderly, rehabilitation patients
- Interdisciplinary Team: Therapy, Administration, Social Workers, Activities, Dietary, Housekeeping
- Pharmacy: On-site with medication dispensing system
- Respiratory Therapist: On-site 24/7
Job Duties
- Charting and assessments
- Charge nurse responsibilities
- Medication administration
- Clinical skills including IVs, catheters, ostomy care
- Floating between units as needed
Staffing & Ratios
- RN to patient ratio: 1:20
- LPN to patient ratio: 1:20
- CNA to patient ratio: 1:8
- Shift staffing example (day/pm): 4 nurses, 7 aides; night: 2 nurses, 3-4 aides
Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: Days, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
- Block scheduling
- Weekend: Every other weekend required
- Holidays: Must be available for at least half of the holidays during assignment
- No on-call or standby required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Long Term Care experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with geriatric patients
Additional Information
- No telemetry monitors on unit; RNs do not read strips
- No requirement to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
- Dress code: Any solid color, clean and professional
- Orientation varies based on skills
- Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
- Prior employment with this facility requires a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
This position is suitable for RNs with LTC experience who are comfortable managing a patient load with complex elderly care needs in a nursing home setting.
