Description

Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Unit Details

  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
  • No on-call required
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • First-time travel nurses accepted
  • If major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work them (up to two holidays if three occur)
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
  • Full compliance with onboarding requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Local nurses accepted at the same rate
  • Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
  • Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (required by agency)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or negative chest X-ray within 6 months if prior positive TB test
  • Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend if not eligible at start)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend if not eligible at start)
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended (one dose within past 10 years)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification and multiple county/national checks; must be complete prior to start
  • Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof of processing (due within 30 days post start)
  • Two clinical references required by agency
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing (due within 30 days post start)

Additional Notes

  • Manager review of candidate profile and confirmation occurs within 48 hours after signing
  • Orientation scheduling is bi-weekly; compliance delays push start date by 2 weeks
  • Candidates must review and sign facility code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start
  • Floating assignments are within the facility and scope of practice
  • No prior travel experience required
