Registered Nurse - Postpartum
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts
Unit: 5N Postpartum
Shift: Rotating
Hours per Week: 36
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work every other weekend and every other major holiday
- Acute care experience required
- Scrubs provided
- Orientation includes 3 days hospital system-wide plus 3 days on unit
- No mandatory on-call, but volunteers may be asked to cover vacant shifts
- Unit has 13 Postpartum beds and 4 Continuing Care Nursery beds
- Common patient diagnoses: post vaginal delivery, post c-section delivery, intermittent postpartum magnesium treatment, postpartum hemorrhage
- Required drips and medications: IV antibiotics, IV magnesium intermittently, PRBC transfusions, Rhogam, Lovenox
- Specialty equipment used: Welch Allyn blood pressure monitors, Nihon Khoden, venodyne machine, IV pump, panda warmer, Medela breast pump
- Patient population includes newborns
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 1 year of Postpartum nursing experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Acute care experience
Additional Information
- Travel experience preferred but first-time travelers will be considered
- Local candidates within 50 miles are welcome
- Flu vaccine required during flu season
