Description

Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer - Travel/Contract

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Unit & Work Details

  • Unit requires a left-handed scanner
  • Weekend coverage: Every other weekend
  • No on-call required
  • Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours corresponds to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Echo Technologist experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one prior travel assignment as an Echo Technologist

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Must hold a valid State of Georgia license relevant to the specialty (Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required if applicable to specialty
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke, EFM) may be required depending on specialty specifics—refer to clinical guidelines
  • National certification verification required if applicable
  • Competency exams required by the agency:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (for RNs/LVNs)
    • Color Blind Testing (minimum 80% score required; alternative assessment possible)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam if applicable to specialty
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager approval

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week start delay due to orientation scheduling
  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including:
    • National and county criminal searches
    • Sex offender registry check
    • Education verification (degree related to specialty)
  • Diplomas/transcripts required for Respiratory Therapists (if applicable)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start required by agency (not client)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start; if prior positive TB, additional documentation required
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended but not required
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies

References & History

  • Two clinical references required by agency (not client)
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months required
  • Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing

Additional Notes

  • Floating assignments may be required within the facility and scope of practice
  • Clinical screens are reviewed case-by-case and sent to manager for final decision
  • Orientation hours are non-billable and vary by contract length
  • Candidates must pass all required competency exams; failure after three attempts may result in cancellation
